Usage Guide - Flavor Oils (REVIEW FOR ACCURACY)
Start with 0.5% to 3% maximum by weight in recipes.
Steps:
Measure the weight of all your ingredients
Calculate the amount of flavoring based on that weight within a range of 0.5% to a maximum of 3%.
Example:
Flavored Lip Balm Recipe
Ingredients:
2T beeswax (25 grams)
4T coconut oil (55 grams)
Flavor Oil (Quantity not yet determined)
Total weight of ingredients prior to flavoring = 80 grams
Starting Ratio: 0.5% of 80 grams (80 x 0.005) = 0.4 grams of flavor oil
Maximum Ratio: 3% of 80 grams (80 x 0.03) = 2.4 grams of flavor oil
Helpful Tips:
It’s going to be difficult to convert everything (liquid ingredients, powders, syrups) into a singular unit of measurement (grams). So, the amount of flavoring used should be written as a suggested range.
Grams to Tsp | Grams to Tbsp |
1 grams = 0.24 tsp | 1 gram = 0.6-0.7 tbsp |
1 tsp = 5.69 grams | 1 tbsp= 17.07 grams |
2 tsp = 8.4 grams | 2 tbsp = 28.3 grams |
3 tsp = 14.3 grams | 3 tbsp = 42.52 grams |
Grams to Cups | Grams to Ounces |
½ cup = 64 grams (dry) | 1 gram = 0.04 oz |
½ cup = 120 grams (liquid) | ½ oz = 14.17 grams |
1 cup = 128 grams (dry) | 1 oz = 28.35 grams |
1 cup = 250 grams (liquid) | 2 oz = 56.70 grams |
