Usage Guide - Flavor Oils (REVIEW FOR ACCURACY)

Edited

Start with 0.5% to 3% maximum by weight in recipes.

Steps:

  1. Measure the weight of all your ingredients

  2. Calculate the amount of flavoring based on that weight within a range of 0.5% to a maximum of 3%.

Example:

Flavored Lip Balm Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2T beeswax (25 grams)

  • 4T coconut oil (55 grams)

  • Flavor Oil (Quantity not yet determined)

Total weight of ingredients prior to flavoring = 80 grams

Starting Ratio: 0.5% of 80 grams (80 x 0.005) = 0.4 grams of flavor oil

Maximum Ratio: 3% of 80 grams (80 x 0.03) = 2.4 grams of flavor oil

Helpful Tips:

  • It’s going to be difficult to convert everything (liquid ingredients, powders, syrups) into a singular unit of measurement (grams). So, the amount of flavoring used should be written as a suggested range.
